The final week of Foothill League boy’s basketball started with some drama on Tuesday night, but when all the dust settled, only two teams remained in the race for the league championship.  The Saugus Centurions stayed in a first-place tie thanks to two Michael Cassio free-throws with no time on the clock, defeating Canyon 54-53.  The Centurions share the league lead with Valencia with one game to play.  The Vikings beat Golden Valley, 79-67.  In a game heard live on KHTS, Hart ended West Ranch’s championship dreams, with a 70-55 victory.  West Ranch and Canyon play tonight in a make-up to determine sole possession of third place in league.

 

In girl’s action, Hart secured at least a share of the league championship, 65-52 over West Ranch.  Valencia clinched a playoff spot with a 77-63 win over Golden Valley, while Saugus kept their chances of a league split alive, beating canyon 58-56.

 

In boy’s soccer action, Canyons took over the Foothill League lead with one game left, defeating Valencia 1-0.  Golden Valley dominated Saugus, 5-0.

 

The Foothill League has a new girl’s soccer champion.  Saugus clinched an outright league championship, defeating Golden Valley 4-0.  Canyon also secured a playoff spot with a 1-0 win over Valencia.

 

The Los Angeles Lakers received 24 points from new addition Pau Gasol, beating New Jersey 105-90.

 

Kings fans have something to smile about, following a 4-2 win over the Rangers last night.  The Kings take on  Detroit tomorrow, live on KHTS at 4pm.
