College of the Canyons women’s basketball guard AndreaBobic was named to the 2008 First Team All-State squad, asannounced by JC Scores. The sophomore is the third consecutiveCougar to be recognized with the prestigious honor. Former COCplayer Leslie Ortiz was a two-time honoree in 2006 and 2007 andforward Facion Edwards earned the award in 2007.

 

Bobic, a Lancaster High School alum, led the team in scoring andrebounding for the 2007-08 season. The 5-foot-8-inch player pouredin 17.7 ppg and pulled down 12.0 rpg during the regular season witha season high game of 32 points against West L.A. (Jan. 19). Bobicalso had a record-breaking season when she broke the school recordfor most 3-pointers in a game as she sunk eight long range shots inthe same West L.A. game.

 

Bobic becomes the 16th College of the Canyons women’sbasketball player to become an All-State selection under head coachGreg Herrick.

 

The Los Angeles Dodgers were victorious to open spring training,defeating Atlanta 5-4 yesterday.  Non-roster invitee JohnLindsey had a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth to winthe game for the Dodgers.

 

The Los Angeles Kings were defeated in Edmonton, 5-4 lastnight.  The Kings travel to Colorado on Saturday, live on KHTSat 4:30pm.
