The spring signing day has come and gone, and some of our local high school lady’s will be continuing their sports careers into college.  Valencia basketball star Chelsey Hastigan received a full scholarship to play at Division II Western State College of Colorado.  Hastigan was fourth in the state in three-pointers made last season.  Canyon softball player Nicole Hannasch will attend Occidental College, while fellow Cowboy and soccer star Deanna Clegg will attend West Point.

Friday afternoon’s Foothill League baseball games featured three big blowouts.  In perhaps the biggest surprise of the year, Hart pounded Valencia 13-3.  The Indians have distanced themselves from the rest of the league with a 8-1 league record.  West Ranch pitcher Charlie Gillies allowed just three hits in the Wildcats 9-0 shutout of Golden Valley.  Saugus scored 10 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 12-3 win over Canyon.

College of the Canyon’s baseball clinched their first Conference Championship since 2004 with a 21-3 win over Mission College.  The Cougars have won 23 of their last 24 games.

The Los Angeles Dodgers continued their struggles, getting swept in Atlanta over the weekend.  The Dodgers now travel to Cincinnati for a two game series starting today with a 3:40 start times, live on KHTS.
