Friday’s Foothill League baseball matches set up a dramatic race to the finish.  Hart’s 7-5 win over Saugus keeps the Indians in first place in league, one game up on Valencia.  The Vikings beat Golden Valley.  West Ranch defeated Canyon, 7-0, making the race for the third and final playoff spot all the more dramatic.  The Wildcats now trail Saugus by just one game.  Valencia will play Hart and West Ranch will get a shot at Saugus in the final two weeks of league play.

Former College of the Canyons standout defensive back Justin Tryon was selected by the Washington Redskins in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.  Tryon spent the last two years at Arizona State.  Former Hart linebacker Dan Howell did not get drafted, but hope remains with the former Indian still having a chance to get invited to training camps as an undrafted free agent.

The Los Angeles Lakers steamrolled Denver, 102-84 on Saturday to move to 3-0 in their first round matchup with the Nuggets.  Game four is tonight in Denver, with the Lakers looking to sweep.  Game time is listed at 7:30pm.

The Los Angeles Dodgers got a big four-game sweep over the defending National League pennant winning Colorado Rockies over the weekend.  The Dodgers used two walk-off hits and a Matt Kemp grand slam to combo with great pitching in shutting down the Rockies.  The Dodgers travel to Florida today, starting a three game series with the Marlins tomorrow, live on KHTS at 3:40pm.
