Local Foothill League golfers continued to show their muscle in the CIF Southern Section Individual Finals yesterday in Desert Hot Springs.  League MVP Johnny MacArthur finished tied for the lead, but lost on the second playoff hole to take home second place.  Valencia’s Max Homa and West Ranch freshman JJ Holen also were strong, and all three players qualified for the Southern California High School Golf Championships on May 29.

The second round of the CIF Southern Section Division I baseball playoffs take place this afternoon.  Foothill League Champion Hart High will travel to take on the Inland Valley League Champions from Canyon Springs.  Valencia will host Lakewood in their second round game.  Both games are scheduled for 3:15pm.

The second round of the Division I softball playoffs also take place today.  League co-champion and defending CIF Champion Valencia will make the long drive to Santa Margarita for their game, while the other co-champion Hart makes the equally long trip to Mater Dei.  Saugus travels to Corona Santiago.  All three games have a scheduled start time of 3:15pm.

The San Antonio Spurs defeated the New Orleans Hornets last night, setting up a showdown in the Western Conference Finals with the Lakers starting tomorrow night at the Staples Center at 7:30pm.

The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied late and rookie Blake DeWitt delivered a bases loaded walk-off single to secure the win for the Dodgers, 6-5 over Cincinnati last night.  Game two of the series can be heard live tonight on KHTS at 6:30pm.
