Week two of Foothill League play concluded on Friday night, and two favorites have emerged in a tough boy’s league.  Saugus improved to 3-1 in league, following a 57-38 defeat of Canyon in a game heard live on KHTS.  Valencia also improved to 3-1 with a 70-46 victory over Golden Valley.  Hart and West Ranch are both 2-2 following the Indians 66-65 victory over the Wildcats.  Tune in tomorrow night, when West Ranch hosts Golden Valley at the half-way point of the season, live on KHTS at 6:15pm.

 

In girl’s action, Saugus is now 4-0 in league, after defeating Canyon 48-31.  Valencia was also victorious, defeating Golden Valley, 72-56.

 

Foothill League football players continue to receive recognition for a season well played.  Five players were named to the Cal-Hi Sports All-State team.  Delano Howell was named first team offense, with fellow Indian Patrick Larimore second team defense.  Saugus star Ryan Zirbel and fellow Centurion Jon Bryant were named all-underclassmen second team, and former Valencia player Marlon Pollard, who has transferred, was also an all-underclassmen second teamer.

 

Reports out of Westwood indicate former USC and Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow will be hired to replace Jay Norvell as the offensive coordinator at UCLA.

 

The Los Angeles Kings split their matchups over the weekend, loosing to Calgary, but defeating Vancouver.  The Kings host Detroit tomorrow night, live on KHTS following basketball.
