Foothill League Basketball is halfway home in 2008, and two teams have emerged following round one in boy’s action.  In a game heard live on KHTS, West Ranch improved to 3-2 in league play after defeating Golden Valley, 86-64.  Valencia beat Canyon, 59-57 to improve to 4-1 in league, and Saugus knocked off Hart, 74-66.  Halfway home in 2008, and Valencia and Saugus are tied up top in the league standings.  West Ranch is all alone in third, with Canyon and Hart locked together not far behind.  Golden Valley is still looking for their first win in league this year.  Tune in on Friday night when KHTS has all of the action from West Ranch when the Canyon Cowboys try to avenge their league-opening loss.

 

In girl’s action, Hart handed Saugus their first league loss of 2008, 52-51.  Canyon upset an upstart Valencia squad, 36-32.  Golden Valley defeated West Ranch in the final 15 seconds, 47-45.  Saugus and Hart are gridlocked at 4-1 in league, with Valencia and Canyon at 3-2.  Golden Valley get’s their first league win of 2008, and West Ranch is still looking to get in the win column.

 

Congratulations to Canyon High center Cody Anderson, the second Lockheed Player of the Week of 2008.  Anderson scored 34 points with 26 rebounds in his two games last week.  Canyon High will receive a $250 donation to their booster club.  Congratulations to Cody from everyone at Lockheed Federal Credit Union and KHTS.

 

The Los Angeles Kings were shut out by Detroit, 3-0 last night.  The Kings take on Anaheim in the final game before the All-Star break, live on KHTS this Thursday at 7pm.
