Hometown Sports Report 11/1/07

Girls Volleyball action wraps up in the Foothill League tonight.  Valencia has already clinched league, but don’t expect the Lady Vikings to back down as they travel to Hart to take on the Indians.  Canyon will look to secure a playoff birth versus Saugus, while Golden Valley and West Ranch look to produce a memorable match in their short histories.

Its crunch time on the gridiron in the Foothill League, and tomorrow nights games look to add to an already great year.  Week three in league was intense, with a rivalry ending in a tie, an up-and-coming team pushing the defending state champions, and eye popping performances out of Saugus.  The Hart Indians look to rebound from a shocking tie with the Vikings last week.  The Indians host Golden Valley Friday night at COC.  The West Ranch Wildcats look for their first Foothill League victory against a surprising Valencia squad in a game scheduled for Friday evening at Valencia High School.  That game can be heard on KHTS on Saturday morning at 10am.  The Foothill League leading Saugus Centurions will take a trip up Plum Canyon to battle the Canyon Cowboys.  The Cowboys and Vikings are neck-and-neck for the last playoff spot.  You can hear the Saugus vs. Canyon game Live on KHTS at 6:30pm Friday night.

College of the Canyons girls’ volleyball moved into a second place tie with Bakersfield yesterday.  The Cougars defeated Pierce College in 4 games.

The Los Angeles Kings had a four-game winning streak snapped by the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets.  Kyle Calder scored the only Kings goal in the 4-1 loss.  The Kings play home-and-home series with San Jose on Friday and Saturday.  The next Kings game on KHTS will be on Saturday, November 10th when the Dallas Stars return to LA.
