The first week of football playoffs was a smashing success in the Santa Clarita Valley.  Foothill League Champion Hart were surprisingly tested the most by an upstart Thousand Oaks team, but in the end Delano Howell’s six touchdowns were too much, and the Indians took the win, 48-24.  The Saugus Centurions easily handled Pacifica, 34-3, and the Valencia Vikings took care of Pacific View League Champion Oxnard, 28-7.  The Vikings will host Newbury Park, in a game that can be heard live on KHTS at 7:00pm this Friday night.  Saugus will host Atascadero, while the Indians will make the long trip north to Paso Robles.

The College of the Canyons Cougars also had a successful first round playoff game, defeating visiting Saddleback, 34-24, in the Western State Conference Bowl.

The Valencia Vikings girl’s tennis team takes on Long Beach Poly today in the Div. III Championship game.

The Saugus Centurions girl’s cross-country team advanced to the State Championships with a second consecutive CIF-SS Div. I Championship this weekend.

The Los Angeles Kings take on the Dallas Stars tonight; live on KHTS at 5:00pm.
