Hornaday Sets NASCAR Trucks Series Record With Four Wins In A Row

hornaday-ORPRon Hornaday Jr., the former Saugus Speedway champion, set a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series record by winning four races in a row.

He won the Truck Series race at O’Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis on Friday. It was also the 44th Truck Series win of his career, another record.

In the Firestone Indy Lights series, Daniel Herrington, driving for Valencia’s Bryan Herta and his Bryan Herta Autosport team, finished ninth in the Grand Prix of Edmonton race. J.R. Hildebrand won the race, his third of the season.

At Toyota Speedway at Irwindale, Pat Mintey Jr. of Quartz Hill snapped the three-race winning streak of Canyon Country’s R.J. Johnson in the NASCAR Super Trucks division. Mintey, the leader in the Super Trucks standings at the track, won his first race since April 18.

The Super Trucks race featured a couple of Irwindale veterans. Rod Johnson, the father of R.J. Johnson, won the first NASCAR Super Late Model championship at the track in 1999. John Watkinson of Canyon Country won two track championships in the Grand American Modifieds.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
