Hart Must Beat St. Bonaventure To Make A Bid For State

[view:node_ad=5] It was bound to happen.  The Cinderella teams have had their last dance and have cleared the dance floor for the guests of honor.  The number one seeded St. Bonaventure Seraphs and the number two seeded Hart Indians meet in a last-man-standing face off.  The winner of this CIF Northern Division Final may have a strong bid to earn an invitation to the State Championship game.

By the numbers, the teams are hauntingly similar, but the numbers are deceiving.  The Seraphs on paper aren't the same on the field.  The numbers don't tell you about pressure or poise that the line of the Seraphs imposes. And the highly touted Darrell Scott, Running Back for the Seraphs, isn't as quick on paper as he is on grass.

However, the one statistic that may hold the key to the game is the Seraphs inability to score through the air, having only 9 receiving touchdowns this year.

So it seems that the Seraphs are one-dimensional, dominantly relying on their running game.  "Stop the Run-Stop the Seraphs" could be the campaign slogan for the Indians come Saturday. Of course, that’s been the cry of every team the Seraphs have faced this year, and yet still no one has been able to stop Darrell Scott.

I expect that early in the game, things will be faster paced than either team would like, without a lot of clock control. But expect whoever is leading at half time to finish the game winning the time of possession column and therefore winning the game.

KHTS will have all of the action, live at 3:30pm this Saturday.  Good Luck Indians!
