The Master’s College women’s cross country team is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA after an impressive showing at the Vanguard Invitational in Costa Mesa.
The Lady Mustangs finished in a tie for second place with Loyola Marymount at the meet. Eighteen teams competed in the Vanguard Invitational.

Hannah Kellerman from The Master’s College won the 5K race in 17 minutes, 34 seconds. Teammate and Saugus High graduate Karis Frankian was second in 17 minutes, 40 seconds.
The Lady Mustangs have their highest ranking in the NAIA in school history. Their next meet is at the West Coast Jamboree at Biola University on Oct. 26.

The Mustangs were third in the Vanguard Invitational. John Hurd was the top-finishing runner for The Master’s College in 11th place in 25 minutes, 43 seconds on the 8K course.
In soccer, The Master’s College women lost to Vanguard, 1-0, in double overtime. Vanguard, ranked No. 6 in the NAIA, scored the game-winner in the 109th minute.
The Master’s College, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA, dropped to 11-2 overall and 3-2 in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
The Master’s College men’s soccer team beat Vanguard, 3-2, scoring two goals in the second half. Valencia High graduate Zach Klindworth had a goal and an assist.
In baseball, the Dodgers beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-4, in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series and lived to see another game.
The Dodgers tied a playoff franchise record by hitting four home runs. Adrian Gonzalez hit two of them. AJ Ellis and Carl Crawford added solo shots.
The Cardinals lead the series, 3-2. Game 6 is in St. Louis on Friday.
The Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Red Sox, 7-3, in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series. The series is tied, 2-2. Game 5 is in Detroit tonight.
In hockey, the Kings are Nashville for a game against the Predators tonight. The Kings are 2-1 on their current road trip. They are coming off a 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.
