Judy McCarthy and Shannon Grove will skydive into the track during the opening ceremonies to open one of the most significant fundraising events of the Bakersfield community.  The dignitaries will skydive in tandem with professionals from Skydive Taft.

The fundraising jump will be the prelude to the full night of racing on the Kern county speedway.

NASCAR Pro Late Models, NASCAR Spec-Mods, INEX Legends, INEX Bandoleros, and Mini Dwarfs are scheduled to race.

McCarthy is the wife of Kevin McCarthy, Congressman from the 23rd Congressional District and House Majority Whip.  The jump will be Judy’s first.  Grove represents Kern County as the 34th District California State Assemblywoman.  Grove has made several practice tandem jumps in preparation for the big night.

“Please join us this Saturday night to support the meaningful work of Honor Flight Kern County,” Grove said. “I plan to honor our veterans in a special way – I will ‘drop in’ from 12,000 feet up – and I need people there to help catch me if needed!”

Jean Fuller, California State Senator from the 18th District, will also be in attendance to speak about Honor Flight.

The Honor Flight Network provides complimentary travel for World War II, Korean, and Vietnam War Veterans to travel to Washington, DC to visit their respective memorial sites.  The Honor Flight Network allows veterans to take one more tour with honor across the United States.

In addition to donations being accepted, prizes will also be raffled off to the race fans during this night and several Honor Flight recipients will be honored during opening ceremonies, following the conclusion of the jump.
