White led all 35 laps of the first event under heavy pressure from Brian Richardson. A caution period on lap 23 for spins by both Cole Adamo and Racin Vernon closed the field up, but White was able to use on the outside on the restart to rocket away from the pack. The yellow came out again on lap 29 for Fresno’s Trevor Schlundt slowing on the backstretch.
White came home with a scant .278 second victory ahead of Brian Richardson, Lance Wilson, Eric Richardson, and 14 year-old Buddy Shepherd.
The second 35 was a much more hotly contested affair. Adamo led the opening lap from outside pole before being overhauled by Brian Richardson on lap two. A caution on lap 13 erased Richardson’s lead, and Wilson stormed past from the outside to take over.
A wild back-and-forth between the top four cars resulted in White sneaking by on lap 19, after starting seventh, and White never looked back. White cruised to a 4.398 second win with Lance Wilson holding off Eric Richardson and Brian Richardson for second.
“Once again, a big shout out to Steve McGowan for this opportunity and to Steve Portenga for the set up on the car,” White said. “Lance is running good and Eric…that thing runs good! This is going to be a great year.”
Eddie Garone won his first career points paying INEX Legends race in an event with four different leaders and five lead changes among the 12 car field. Garone took the lead on lap 15 after Tony Mangini and Eric Olson tangled in turn one. Both drivers were forced to restart at the rear.
Donny St. Ours started last on the field but took over from Garone on lap 24. Just two laps later, Mangini’s charge from the back saw him take the lead on lap 27. Garone made the winning move to get past Mangini on lap 28 to take the $500 win, with Mangini second, new points leader Brandon Weaver third, then St. Ours, and Garrett Fine the top-five.
“We won what can I say!” Garone said. “They don’t play nice up there… Somehow I stayed on the white line and held them off!”
Randy Smith finally broke through for his first NASCAR Mini Stock win on the quarter-mile speedway, in a duel with Jordon Brown. Brown led the first eight laps of the event and Smith led from laps nine through 27. Business picked up in the final three laps in lapped traffic with Brown taking the lead on lap 28, but Smith snaked through to lead the final lap for the win. Brown was moved back due to rough driving in traffic. Smith topped Stacy Evans and Terry Petit the top-three finishers.
2013 NASCAR Spec Mod champion Chris Dalton is now two-for-two, winning a comfortable 30 lap event. Dalton led the final 22 laps over trophy dash winner Gary Dutton. On the INEX Bandolero side, it was much of the same as 2013 division champion Tyler Bannister visited victory lane again to be three-for-three this year with Braden Rogers and Kabe McClenny in tow.
