The Kings traded popular forward Wayne Simmonds and prospect Brayden Schenn for Mike Richards, the captain of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Richards, a first-round pick of the Flyers in 2003, scored 23 goals and played in 81 regular season games last season.
Simmonds scored 14 goals and had 16 assists in 80 regular season games last season. Schenn was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 draft. He has played only nine NHL games for the Kings and notched two assists over two seasons.
The Lakers had four second-round picks in the NBA draft and took Darius Morris, a 6-foot-4 point guard from the University of Michigan, with their first pick.
Morris played his high school basketball at Windward in Los Angeles.

The Clippers had two picks in the second round and took a pair of Georgia Bulldogs. They selected power forward Trey Thompkins with their first pick and guard Travis Leslie with their second pick.
