The Master’s University Basketball
Make it 16 in a row for Mustangs’ men’s hoops after a strong second half at Arizona Christian propelled them to a 89-76 victory. It’s the hottest winning streak TMU has enjoyed since the 2003-04 season.
They again did it with balance–starting center Tim Soares had a big double-double with 19 points and 19 boards, Hansel Atencia also scored 19 and Delewis Johnson chipped in with 16.
Leading scorer Lawrence Russell had a high of 21 points, coming off his career high of 32 on Saturday against William Jessup. The reigning GSAC Player of the Week also had four steals to help ignite the Mustangs defense.
The Mustangs (17-1, 3-0) head back to Southern California for a Saturday night road matchup with San Diego Christian. San Diego is still winless in conference play, as the top and bottom halves are already separating themselves in the GSAC. TMU must keep winning to stay on pace with No. 9 Hope International and Westmont, both 3-0.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 on Saturday night.
