No. 1 West Ranch Vs. Sage Hill In Semifinals Of CIF Girls Tennis Playoffs

khts_sportsThe West Ranch and Valencia girls tennis teams are in the final four of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs.

Valencia is home for its semifinal match against St. Margaret. The Valencia girls are coming off an 11-7 win over Lakewood in the quarterfinals.

West Ranch, the No. 1 seed in the Division III playoffs, is on the road against Sage Hill in the other semifinal match. The West Ranch girls beat Santiago Corona, 15-3, in their quarterfinal match.

In college basketball, the College of the Canyons men’s team is in the Toyota Classic at Irvine Valley College. COC is 2-1 and is coming off its first loss of the season, 98-67, to Saddleback College.

The College of the Canyons women’s team is on the road for a game against Cypress College. The COC women went 2-1, beating Compton and Riverside, in the Mt. San Antronio College Tip-Off tournament last week.

In college soccer, The Master’s College women’s team is in the NAIA tournament. The sixth-ranked Master’s College women will play the University of Maine-Fort Kent at home in the first round of the NAIA tournament.

The Master’s College women finished with a 16-2-2 record, but lost to California Baptist in the shootout in the Golden State Athletic Conference tournament.

The Master’s College men’s cross country team is in the 55th annual national championships at Vancouver, Washington on Saturday. The Master’s College won the Golden State Athletic Conference championship.

The Lakers won their second game in a row on the road, 103-90, over the Detroit Pistons.

Kobe Bryant scored 33 points and didn’t even play the fourth quarter. The Lakers were up by 14 points at halftime and had a 21-point lead after three quarters.

Pau Gasol scored 25 points and had 12 rebounds. Lamar Odom scored 15 points and had 14 rebounds.

The Lakers end their three-game road trip in Minnesota against the Timberwolves on Friday night.

The Kings lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets, 5-3, and saw their unbeaten streak at Staples Center come to and end.

Justin Williams, Michal Handzus and Ryan Smyth each scored a goal for the Kings. Drew Doughty had three assists.

The Kings hit the road for a game against the Sabres in Buffalo on Friday night.
