Premier Soccer Santa Clarita Valley Wins First Game

sportslocalThe Premier Soccer Santa Clarita Valley Rooks won their first game in franchise history on Saturday. Keep in mind the Rooks franchise history is all of 10 games.
Still, the women’s soccer team beat the Claremont Stars, 1-0, on a goal by Adriene Dickerson in the 48th minute. Chelsea Riggins, a Canyon High graduate, assisted on the goal.

In auto racing, R.J. Johnson, a driver from Canyon Country, won his third race in a row in the NASCAR Super Trucks division at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale on Saturday night.

The Super Trucks field included Bill Sedgwick, a driver from Acton who was one of the original drivers in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Back then it was known as the Craftsman Super Trucks Series. Sedgwick finished fourth in the race at Irwindale.
