Santa Clarita Blue Heat Faces Seattle Sounders In W-League Soccer Game

The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team takes on the Seattle Sounders in a W-League match tonight, the first of two games this weekend at The Master’s College.

The Blue Heat plays the Colorado Rapids on Sunday.

The Blue Heat split their first two games of the season, a win over the LA Strikers in the opener and a loss to the Pali Blues.

Kickoff for the game between the Blue Heat and the Sounders is at 5 tonight.

In auto racing, Alex Tagliani, the driver of the Barracuda Racing team owned by Valencia’s Bryan Herta in the Izod IndyCar Series, will look to rebound after a pair of poor results in the Dual in Detroit.

Tagliani finished in 23rd in the first race on the Belle Isle course in Michigan. He was 21st in the second race.

The IndyCar Series will be at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. Tagliani has won the pole for the Texas race the past two years. The race is Saturday night.

In NASCAR, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley and his Gene Price Motorsports team will be in Iowa for the K&N Pro Series Casey’s General Store 150 tonight.

Pursley is in third place in the K&N Pro Series West standings after three races. He won the West Series season opener in Phoenix and is coming off a third-place finish at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota.

In hockey, the Kings lost to the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals.

The Kings took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by Slava Voynov. They went up 2-1 in the second period on Dustin Penner’s goal.

But Marian Hossa scored the game winner for the Blackhawks early in the third period.

The Kings are down, 3-1 in the series. Game 5 is Saturday in Chicago.

In baseball, the Dodgers shut out the visiting Atlanta Braves, 5-0, and Yasiel Puig came through again with the big hit.

He hit a grand slam in the eighth inning into the Puig Pen in right field. He has hit three home runs and has nine RBIs in his first four games in the majors.

The Dodgers and Braves are back at it again tonight at Dodger Stadium.

Listen to the game on AM 1220, KHTS. First pitch is at 7:10.

About Connie Jones

Connie and her husband, John, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley almost 30 years ago. Living in Santa Clarita for that long is the direct opposite of Connie’s childhood. She was an Army ‘brat’ who moved every two to three years. Consequently, she has lived in many states and even spent three years in Europe. All three of her kids went to Santa Clarita schools. Connie says the best thing about her job at KHTS is that she is never bored. “If I’m not smiling, Carl is sure to ask why, just before giving me a mind-boggling project.” “KHTS AM-1220 is an integral part of our community and I’m glad to be a part of it. Besides, the DJs will take my request to play Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ for my wedding anniversary – gotta love that!”
