Santa Clarita Blue Heat Women’s Soccer Team Faces Colorado Rush Tonight

The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team takes on the Colorado Rush tonight at The Master’s College.

The Blue Heat are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Seattle Sounders over the weekend. The Sounders scored two second-half goals to win the W-League Western Conference game.

Natalia Gomez-Junco scored in the first minute to give the Blue Heat a 1-0 lead. Tara Corcoran added a goal in the ninth minute to push the lead to 2-0.

Stacey Rodwell assisted on both goals for the Blue Heat.

The Blue Heat are 3-6-1 and in sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

The game between the Blue Heat and the Rush kicks off at 5.

In auto racing, Alex Tagliani, driving for the Barracuda Racing team in the Izod IndyCar Series owned by Valencia’s Bryan Herta, was 17th in the Pocono IndyCar 400 on Sunday. It was the first time in the past seven races Tagliani finished in the top 20.

Scott Dixon won the race, his first of the season. Camarillo’s Charlie Kimball was second, matching his career-best finish in the IndyCar Series.

A little closer to home, Valencia’s Connor Cantrell won the trucks race at the Irwindale Event Center on Saturday night. It was his first win of the season.

Lucas McNeil from Saugus was third in the trucks race.

In baseball, the Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-1, and closed the gap on the National League West leaders.

The Dodgers are 3 ½ games behind the first-place Diamondbacks. Hanley Ramirez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and scored a run. He has a 19-game hitting streak and is batting .419.

Yasiel Puig went 2-for-5 and is batting .409.

The Dodgers and the Diamondbacks continue their series tonight in Arizona. Newly acquired Ricky Nolasco makes his first start for the Dodgers. Bean-balling Ian Kennedy gets the start for the Diamondbacks.
