Santa Clarita Blue Heat Women’s Soccer Team Tops Colorado Rush

The Santa Clarita Blue Heat women’s soccer team beat the Colorado Rush, 2-1, in a W-League Western Conference game.

Natatlia Gomez-Junco scored a goal for the Blue Heat off a penalty kick in the 34th minute to tie the score, 1-1.

Ana Borges scored in the 79th minute to win the game.

The Blue Heat is 3-5-1 and tied for fifth place in the Western Conference standings.

The Santa Clarita Storm men’s soccer team lost to FC Hasental, 2-1, in a National Premier Soccer League game.

Julio Lopez scored the lone goal for the Storm. Hasental scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 90th minute.

Now the Storm is in a must-win situation if the team wants to make the playoffs. They have to win their season finale game against the San Diego Flash this weekend.

In volleyball, the Legacy 17-under girls team won the Volleyball Festival championship in Phoenix. Legacy beat the Idaho Falls Bonneville Volleyball Club, 2-0, in the championship match. Legacy was undefeated and won 11 matches in the tournament.

The Legacy 17-under team includes West Ranch’s Alexis Clewis, Santa Clarita Christian’s Allie Acosta and Saugus’ Amy Buffham.

The Legacy 16-under team won the Volleyball Festival championship, 2-1, over Ho’opa of Hawaii.

In baseball, the Dodgers are in Denver to start a three-game series with the Rockies tonight.

Clayton Kershaw starts for the Dodgers against Roy Oswalt for the Rockies.
