Santa Clarita Christian Baseball Team Tops Trinity

khts_sportsThe Santa Clarita Christian baseball team won the battle of crosstown Christian schools, beating Trinity 18-1.

Santa Clarita Christian is the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 poll and improved to 5-0.

Davis Muxlow was 3-for-4 with a walk and drove in two runs for Santa Clarita Christian.

In college basketball, The Master’s College men beat Truett McConnell from Georgia, 71-66, in the consolation semifinal of the National Christian College Athletic Association tournament in Indiana.

The Master’s College advances to the consolation final and will play Trevecca Nazarene from Tennessee today.

In college baseball, The Master’s College lost to Azusa Pacific, 10-5. Tanner Leighton hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning for The Master’s College.

In college softball, College of the Canyons starter Alicia Paiz pitched a perfect game in a six-inning, 10-0, win over Santa Monica College. She had seven strikeouts and didn’t allow a hit or walk in a game that was called after six innings because of a mercy rule.

In high school tennis, the Golden Valley boys beat Village Christian, 14-4.

The Saugus boys beat Buena, 11-7. The Valencia boys beat San Marcos, 14-4.

In high school golf, the Valencia boys beat Brentwood by 16 strokes in a match at the Wilson Golf Course at Griffith Park. Jonathan Chang shot the low round of the match, a 5-over 77.

The West Ranch boys golf team lost to Ventura by 13 strokes in a match at the Buena Ventura Golf Course.

In the NBA, the Lakers traded fan-favorite Derek Fisher to the Houston Rockets in a three-team deal that brings Ramon Sessions from the Cavaliers to the Lakers.

The Lakers also traded Luke Walton and UCLA grad Jason Kapono in the deal.

In hockey, the Kings play the Ducks tonight in Anaheim.
