Santa Clarita Christian Girls Soccer Team Shuts Out Oakwood

sportslocalThe Santa Clarita Christian girls soccer team beat Oakwood, 6-0, behind two-goal games from Amanda Doty and Jennifer Fullarton.

Kayla Gale and Mary Koler scored a goal apiece for Santa Clarita Christian.

 

In high school basketball, the surprising West Ranch girls team heads to Saugus for a Foothill League game. Valencia is at Hart and Canyon is at Golden Valley.

The Santa Clarita Chrisitan girls are on the road against L.A. Lutheran.

On the boys side, Canyon is at Golden Valley is a match-up of top two teams in the Foothill League standings. Both teams have 3-1 records. West Ranch is at Saugus and Valencia is at Hart.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys will play at L.A. Lutheran.

In auto racing, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley will put his NASCAR skills to the test against some of the top drivers in the country in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown in Irwindale on Saturday night. Pursley will race against a star-studded lineup that includes Sprint Cup Series drivers Joey Logano and David Gilliland.

In college basketball, the USC Trojans lost to Oregon State, 51-45.

UCLA took Oregon to overtime, but lost 71-66. Michael Roll hit a 3-pointer for UCLA to force overtime, but Oregon’s E.J. Singler scored six points in the final 1:10 in OT to seal the victory for Oregon.

Pau Gasol of the Lakers was named to the NBA Western Conference All-Star team as a reserve. He joins Kobe Bryant, who will start for the Western Conference All Stars. The Lakers continue their road trip tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Kings got two goals from Anze Kopitar and beat the Columbus Blue Jackets, 4-1. Kopitar scored the 100th and 101st goals of his career. Ryan Smyth added a goal and an assist for the Kings, winners of four straight games.
