The Santa Clarita Christian girls volleyball team advanced to the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division VAA playoffs.

The Cardinals eliminated Upland Christian in five games in a second-round playoff match.

Lette Blake led Santa Clarita Christian with 11 kills, nine digs and 17 assists. Kylie Brown had 10 kills and seven digs.

In other volleyball playoff matches, Valencia lost to Canyon of Anaheim in four games in the second round of Division IA. Hart lost to El Dorado in five games.

The Vikings, the Foothill League champions, lost the first two games of the match before taking the third.

Sierra Sanchez had 18 kills and 21 digs for Valencia in the loss.

The Indians took visiting El Dorado to the distance, but lost the fifth game, 17-15. Amy King had 16 kills and 16 digs for Hart.

The high school football playoffs start tonight for three teams from the Foothill League. Valencia and Canyon are home for their first round games. Hart is on the road.

Valencia, the No. 2 seed in the Southern Section Northern Division playoffs, plays Paso Robles. Canyon takes on San Luis Obispo. Hart travels to Arroyo Grande.

All games  start at 7.

The Trinity football team is in the second round of the Division II 8-man playoffs. The Knights play Cornerstone Christian on the road tonight.

In high school golf, Hart’s Jamie Corr shot a 2-over 74 and missed the cut for the CIF state championship tournament.

She made three birdies and had five bogies in the CIF/WSCGA Regional State Qualifier at the Golf Club at Rancho California in Murrieta. Eight players made the cut at even-par 72.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Portland Trail Blazers, 103-90. De’Andre Jordan and Chris Paul each scored 21 points for the Clippers.
