Santa Clarita Christian Wins Second Straight CIF 8-Man Football Championship

sportslocalThe Santa Clarita Christian football team is creating quite a little dynasty. With a 38-22 win over Faith Baptist, Santa Clarita Christian won its second CIF Southern Section Division I 8-man football championship in a row.

Running back Colin Keoshian shined in the championship game. He rushed for 118 yards and scored three touchdowns. He also threw a touchdown pass. He has accounted for 143 touchdowns in his high school career, a record in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Santa Clarita Christian held Faith Baptist scoreless for three quarters. Daniel Chapman recovered a fumble that led to a touchdown and recorded a sack in his team’s win.

Chris Fechtelkotter caught an 8-yard touchdown pass from Keoshian, who will play in college at Brigham Young University next season. Fechtelkotter also intercepted a pass in the end zone in the fourth quarter to squelch a late comeback attempt by Faith Baptist.

Brandon Harris added a defensive touchdown for Santa Clarita Christian recovering a fumble for a touchdown to give his team a 32-0 lead early in the fourth quarter.
