KHTS Game of the Week

FINAL

West Ranch (5-1, 1-1): 7

Saugus (4-3, 2-0): 11

The KHTS Game of the Week featured two teams undefeated in league play and both battled to say the very least. With what looked like a baseball score the Saugus Centurions defeated the West Ranch Wildcats 11-7 in a defensive battle. Saugus’ defense came up big blocking a punt in the first half causing a safety and shutting out the Wildcats in the first half.  The Wildcats answered to start the 2nd half scoring on a 4 yard touchdown run but the Centurion offense was able to do just enough to get the lead 11-7 in the 4th quarter. Next week Saugus takes on the Valencia Vikings and West Ranch will play the Hart Indians.

FINAL

Golden Valley (3-4, 0-2): 7

Valencia (6-1, 2-0): 48

On Friday the 13th, the Valencia Vikings’ looked poised to make it a scary night for the Golden Valley Grizzlies. Scoring early in the 1st quarter on a 91-yard bomb from Connor Downs to Kyle Gonzal and adding another 26 yard TD pass, the Viking offense looked like it was on pace for another record night. The Golden Valley Grizzlies had other ideas.

Forcing a fumble in the 2nd Quarter, the Grizzlies drove down the field and scored on a 32 yard pass from De’Gabriel Floyd to Jalen Lewis. Heading into halftime the Valencia lead was only 13-7 over Golden Valley. Only allowing two scores in the first half, the Grizzly defense was able to corral QB Connor Downs and that fast paced Vikings offense.

Opening up the 2nd Half, the Viking offense went back to work driving down the field and scoring on two back-to-back 2-yard TD passes to extend the lead over Golden Valley, 28-7. Heading into the 4th Quarter, the Vikings offense hit their mid season stride as they were able to score four more touchdowns. Shutting out the Grizzlies in the 2nd Half and scoring 35 unanswered points the Vikings routed the Grizzlies 48-7

FINAL

Hart (4-3, 1-1): 35

Canyon (3-4, 0-2): 18

The Hart Indians bounced back from a loss against Valencia last week to defeat their oldest rival Canyon Cowboys 35-18. Hart controlled the game for most of the way not letting Canyon to make things close. Ben Rosen led the way with 3 rushing touchdowns for the Indians as well as Da’ Von Jones who added a couple of his own scores. Canyon quarterback Shaun Gallagher had two rushing touchdowns but couldn’t get the passing game going. It was a sluggish second half with turnovers on both sides. Hart who improved to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Foothill play West Ranch next week. Canyon 3-4 (0-2 Foothill) take on Golden Valley.

FINAL

Trinity Knights: 12

Carpinteria: 44
