KHTS Game of the Week

Final

Saugus (4-6, 2-3): 14

Hart (7-3, 4-1): 22

The Hart Indians finish 4-1 in the Foothill League and take second place, pulling away from the Saugus Centurions in the second half (9-7 game at halftime).

Hart quarterback JT Shrout finished the game 15-for-30 for 218 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions (20 interceptions on the season), 10 of those completions and 108 of the yard through the air to junior Jacob Montes including a touchdown in a breakout game for him. Leading receiver DJ Palmer was knocked out of the game early (concussion), and Davon Jones did not suit up, but is expected back for the playoffs.

Saugus made it a game late, converting a Shrout fumble into a touchdown and had a chance to drive to tie the game with under a minute to play, but CJ McMullen’s pressure proved too much for the Centurions offensive line.

Saugus finishes the year on a three game losing streak and will await playoff seeding.

Final

Canyon (4-6, 1-4): 7

3 Valencia (9-1, 5-0): 59

Vikings cruises to their ninth straight Foothill League title, eighth outright, with the game against the Cowboys well in hand. Jayvaun Wilson had three touchdowns, Connor Downs threw three first quarter touchdown passes, and Mykael Wright had a 60 yard TD catch and a 53 yard TD run. Shawn Gallagher scored on a one yard run to help the Cowboys avoid the shutout.

Valencia has not lost in league play since 2011.

Final

West Ranch (5-4, 1-4): 12

Golden Valley (5-5, 2-3): 34

Golden Valley controlled the game from start to finish in a commanding win over West Ranch to finish the season 5-5 and 2-3 in league play. De’Gabriel Floyd accounted for three touchdowns and Jalin Lewis added the final one.

With the score 20-12 going into the fourth quarter, the Grizzlies scored two more touchdowns to seal the victory. Both Jovan and Ryan Camacho scored the only touchdowns for West Ranch.

The Wildcats started 5-0, but stumble to the finish line with four straight league wins.

Final

Trinity (3-7, 1-2): 44

Firebaugh: 0

The Knights pick up their first Prep League win of the season in their last game of the 2017 regular season. Tyler Lee and Carson Campuzano each scored two touchdowns as Trinity ends the season on a high note.

Final/Thursday

Southlands Christian 6

1 Santa Clarita Christian 62

The Cardinals complete the 10-0 regular season, the first in the program’s history in style. Blake Kirshner threw for five touchdown passes and Lucas Pettee ran for another two.

There were some worrisome moments late in the fourth quarter, with both Pettee and wideout Blaike Orth needing to be helped off the field with lower leg injuries. Already without receivers Caden Brenner and Ethan Schwesinger for the rest of the season, it would be a big blow to an offense to lose their lead running back and receiver.

SCCS awaits the playoff schedule now, and they should have the top seed in Division 13.
