KHTS Game of the Week

Final

Hart (5-3, 2-1): 35

6 West Ranch (5-2, 1-2): 6

Hart dominates West Ranch from start to finish in the KHTS Game of the Week to earn its second Foothill League win while West Ranch drops its second in a row.

Hart quarterback JT Shrout overcame three interceptions to throw for 310 yards and three touchdowns, and Ben Rosen had three total touchdowns to lead the Indians offense. They head into next week’s matchup against Golden Valley in the KHTS Game of the Week with back-to-back double digit wins.

West Ranch offensive issues have dampened the team’s playoff hopes after scoring just 13 points in the last two games. It doesn’t get any easier for the Wildcats either, with the West Side showdown against Valencia next week.

Final

4 Valencia (7-1, 3-0): 50

Saugus (4-4, 2-1): 3

Valencia proves much too tough once again, with its 30th straight Footihll League win at COC over Saugus. The Vikings are averaging 46.6 points per game through three Foothill contests.

Mykael Wright and Jayvaun Wilson each have two touchdowns on the night for the Vikings.

Saugus is hobbling after quarterback Nate Eldridge was reinjured last week, and continues to struggle on offense.

Final

Canyon (3-5, 0-3): 0

Golden Valley (4-4, 1-2): 38

In the battle of the East Side schools, the Canyon Cowboys took on the Golden Valley Grizzlies at Canyon High school Friday night.

On a cold night, the opening drives coincided with the weather as both teams were off from the first whistle.

The Cowboy running game was unable to get off to the fast start that they hoped for and the Grizzly offense could not find their footing as the 1st quarter ended without a point being scored.

Perhaps the Grizzly offense just need a stern talking to by Head Coach Dan Kelley as they came out firing on their first drive of the 2nd Quarter.

Scoring on a 54 yard TD run by Jalen Lewis, the offense was firing on all cylinders as the Grizzlies did not look back.

Golden Valley was able to score on each of their next three drives starting with a 20 yard designed QB keeper by De’Gabriel Floyd, a 70 yard bomb from Floyd to Lewis and a 44 yard laser from QB Zach Chevalier to Ahavie Harris as the Grizzly lead grew to 28-0 heading into the half against Canyon High School.

To open up the 2nd Half, the Grizzlies kept their foot on the gas as D.J. Turner got loose for a 53 yard touchdown run early in the 3rd quarter to extend the lead to 35-0.

After a 37-yard fg by Golden Valley kicker Carson Farber in the 4th quarter, the clock stayed running and spelled the end of hope for a Canyon Cowboys comeback.

The final score Golden Valley Grizzlies 38, Canyon Cowboys 0.

Final/Thursday

Trinity Classical Academy (2-6, 0-1): 6

Pasadena Polytechnic: 54

The injury-plagued Knights dropped their fourth game in a row, Thursday, with a 54-6 loss at home (game location at Valencia HS). Trinity has been outscored in the losses a combined 167-43.

Final/Saturday

Capistrano Valley Christian: 0

6 Santa Clarita Christian (8-0, 3-0): 42

The Cardinals blanked Capistrano Valley to move to 8-0 on the season, just two wins away from a perfect season. SCCS got out to a 28-0 lead and never looked back in the shut out win.

One comment

  1. Valencia has beaten Saugus thirty straight league games. What is the problem with Saugus Football? Does the Saugus area produce lesser athletes than the Valencia area? I don’t think so as Saugus dominates in Cross Country and is competetive in other sports. Where must one look other than the program itself. Perhaps new ideas and new leadership must be considered. I think the school and the community deserve it.
