Santa Clarita Sports: Canyon Girls Basketball Move Into First-Place Tie

The Canyon girls basketball team beat Valencia, 46-43, and moved into a first-place tie in the Foothill League.

Kali Vittallo hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 20 seconds left in the game. She poured in 16 points in the game.

Canyon and Valencia are tied with 7-1 records atop the Foothill League standings. The Canyon girls have won the past four Foothill League championships.

Santa Clarita Sports

The Hart girls beat Golden Valley, 79-68. Hart is in third place in the Foothill League at 5-3.

The Saugus girls beat West Ranch, 48-30, and won their first Foothill League game of the season.

On the boys side, Canyon beat Valencia, 61-60, and avenged an earlier lost to the Vikings in Foothill League play.

Angel Cardenas and Dakota Abbott hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final two minutes to ensure a Canyon win.

Canyon improved to 4-4 in the Foothill League. Valencia dropped 6-2.

The Hart boys easily handled Golden Valley, 79-68. Hart is 8-0 in the Foothill League and clinched a share of the league championship.

The West Ranch boys basketball team kept to its winnings ways, 58-49, over Saugus.

Ryan Williams scored 14 points for West Ranch and the Wildcats improved to 5-3 in the Foothill League.

Saugus dropped to 0-8.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Clippers destroyed the Philadelphia 76rs, 123-78. Chris Paul made his return to the Clippers lineup and scored seven points and had eight assists.

The Clippers won by 45 points, the largrst margin of victory in franchise history. They were up 31 points in the first quarter and had a 79-30 lead at halftime.

The Clippers take on the Portland Trail Blazers at Staples Center on Wednesday.

The Lakers lost to the Chicago Bulls, 92-86, and had their little two-game winning streak snapped.

The Lakers play the Utah Jazz at Staples Center on Tuesday.

Sochi Winter Olympics Update

In the Winter Olympics in Sochi, the United States has won four medals after the first three days. The US has two gold and two bronze medals. Sage Kotsenburg and Jamie Anderson swept gold for the United States in snowboarding slopestyle.

Norway leads all countries with seven medals, two of them gold.
