Santa Clarita Sports: College Of The Canyons Baseball Improve In Conference

The College of the Canyons baseball team beat Antelope Valley College, 8-4, to get back in the win column in the Western State Conference.

COC scored seven runs in the third inning. Roberto Ramos went 2-for-4, hit a home run and drove in three runs for COC.

The Cougars have won three of their past four games. They lost, 11- 8, to Glendale College on Saturday. COC is 8-2 in conference and 12-10-1 overall.

COC plays Antelope Valley College again on Thursday.

Santa Clarita Sports

In college softball, the College of the Canyons swept a doubleheader against Glendale College. COC won the first game, 10-6, and the second game, 8-4.

The Lady Cougars improved to 8-1 in conference and 11-10 overall.

In high school soccer, three players from Hart earned spots on the All-CIF Southern Section Division 2 team.

Sophie Cortes, Destinney Duron and Danielle Spickard were selected to the All-CIF Division 2 first team.

Three players from Santa Clarita Christian, Desirae Dodson, Lacey Lehman and Lauren Gallagher, were selected to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 7 first team.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Lakers crushed the New York Knicks, 127-96, and won their second game in a row. The Lakers will try to make it three wins in a row against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings beat the Washington Capitals, 5-4, in a shootout. The Kings scored three goals in the third period to take a 4-3 lead. But the Capitals scored with less than a minute to play in regulation to send the game into overtime.

Anze Kopitar and Jeff Carter scored in the shootout for the Kings.

Next up for the Kings are the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.
