Santa Clarita Sports: Hart And Saugus Baseball Tied For First Place

The Hart baseball team has a new neighbor atop the Foothill League standings.

Hart and Saugus are tied for first place with Valencia and West Ranch a game behind in second place.

Hart edged Valencia, 3-2, on Friday afternoon to knock the Vikings out of first place in the league standings.

Jack Ralston drove in the winning run for Hart in the seventh inning. Hart ended Valencia’s six-game winning streak in the Foothill League.

Saugus, meanwhile, shut out Canyon, 7-0. Eric Little pitched a three-hitter. He struck out three and walked two.

Saugus scored five runs in the first inning and collected 11 hits in the game. Jonah Kapp was 2-for-3 and drove in three runs.

West Ranch beat Golden Valley, 4-3. Jake Spurlin homered, doubled and drove in two runs for West Ranch.

In high school track and field, Canyon had a big day at the 35th annual Rotary Invitational meet at Birmingham High.

The Cowboys won eight events at the meet. Jason Hillquist won the 800 meters, Jarrett Davidson won the 110-meter hurdles, Jeremy Kimmer won the high jump and Steven Childs won the long jump.

On the girls side, Seanna Nalbandyan won the 800 meters, Natalie Rodriguez won the 1,600, Shalyn Mabritto won the 3,200 and Raelyn Abbinanti won the pole vault.

In auto racing, Johnny White won both NASCAR Late Model Twin 35 races at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield on Saturday night.

Chris Dalton won the Spec-Mods race, Randy Smith won the mini stocks race, Eddie Garone won the INEX Legends race and Tyler Bannister won the Bandoleros race.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Golden State Warriors, 118-97, in Game 4 of the opening round of the NBA playoffs.

The series is tied, 2-2. Game 5 is Tuesday at Staples Center.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Colorado Rockies, 6-1. The Dodgers dropped two of three games to the Rockies over the weekend.

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings are alive in the Stanley Cup playoffs after facing elimination twice over the weekend.

The Kings shut out the San Jose Sharks, 3-0, on Saturday. The Sharks are up, 3-2, in the series.

Game 6 is tonight at Staples Center. Listen to the game between the Kings and the Sharks on AM 1220 KHTS.
