Santa Clarita Sports: Hart And West Ranch Baseball Move Up In CIF Poll

The Hart and West Ranch baseball teams moved up a notch in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll.

West Ranch is ranked No. 4. The Wildcats take on Valencia in a Foothill League game on Wednesday.

Hart moved up to No. 5. The Indians play Canyon on Wednesday.

The Santa Clarita Christian baseball team is No. 1 in the Southern Section Division 7 poll for the third week in a row.

The Cardinals are 9-1 overall and coming off a 5-0 shutout over Lancaster Baptist. They play Faith Baptist in a Heritage League game today.

The Santa Clarita Christian softball team is ranked No. 8 in the Southern Section Division 7 poll.

The West Ranch and Valencia boys tennis teams are in the top 10 of the Southern Section Division 2 poll. West Ranch is No. 9 and Valencia is No. 10.

The Valencia boys volleyball team is ranked No. 9 in the Southern Section Division 1 poll.

In high school basketball, Canyon’s Kali Vittallo won the MVP and the 3-point competition in the Battle of the 14 all star showcase at Antelope Valley College.

She scored 30 points and made six 3-pointers in the all star game for the South All Stars. Her team won the game, 85-80, over the North All Stars.

Vittallo scored nine of her team’s final 15 points. She had five assists and four steals in the game.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Utah Jazz, 119-104. The Lakers play the San Antonio Spurs in the regular season finale on Wednesday.

In the major leagues, the Los Angeles Dodgers are in San Francisco to start a series against the Giants tonight.

Josh Beckett gets the start for the Dodgers against Tim Lincecum for the Giants.
