Santa Clarita Sports: Hart Baseball All Alone In First Place

The Hart baseball team beat West Ranch, 5-2, and is all alone in first place in the Foothill League standings.

Hart scored five runs in the sixth inning to take the lead and win the game.

Paul Richan went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored a run for Hart. Pearson Good drove in two runs during Hart’s five-run rally in the sixth inning.

Hart is undefeated at 3-0 in league and 9-0-1 overall.

Santa Clarita High School Sports

The Valencia baseball team beat Saugus, 7-1. The Vikings won their first Foothill League game of the season. Saugus lost its first Foothill League game of the season.

The Canyon baseball team shut out Golden Valley, 17-0, and won its first Foothill League game. Vinnie Fitzgerald hit two grand slams and drove in eight runs. He was 4-for-4 and scored three runs.

Canyon is 1-2 in the Foothill League. Golden Valley dropped to 0-3.

In high school tennis, Valencia beat Golden Valley, 16-2, and improved to 2-0 in the Foothill League.

Hart beat Saugus, 17-1. The Indians are tied with Valencia at 2-0 in the Foothill League standings.

Golden Valley dropped to 1-1. Saugus is 0-2.

The West Ranch boys shut out Canyon, 18-0. West Ranch is 2-0 in the Foothill League standings. Canyon dropped to 0-3.

Los Angeles Sports Report

In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the Pelicans in New Orleans, 98-96, and had their little two-game winning streak snapped.

The Clippers are back on the court tonight against the Dallas Mavericks, the second game of a five-game roadie.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings are in Pittsburgh for a game against the Penguins tonight.

The Kings have won four games in a row including a 5-4 shootout over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday.
