Santa Clarita Sports: Master’s College Women’s Basketball Starts In Kentucky

The Master’s College women’s basketball team opens the NAIA Division I national tournament against Bethel from Tennessee tonight in Kentucky.

The Lady Mustangs are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA. They are making their ninth appearance in the NAIA national basketball tournament.

Bethel is 21-10 and making its fifth appearance in the NAIA national tournament.

The last time The Master’s College and Bethel played was in 2011. The Lady Mustangs won, 80-70, in Tennessee.

Tipoff is set for 7:15 tonight.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons beat Bakersfield College, 16-7, in a Western State Conference game.

Jose Haros and David Oppenheim each went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for COC.

The Cougars are 10-9-1 overall and 6-1 in conference. They lost their first conference game, 7-5, to LA Mission College on Saturday.

Santa Clarita High School Baseball

In high school baseball, the Foothill League season opens today with all six teams in action.

Hart, ranked No. 3 in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 poll, travels to Canyon for its Foothill League opener.

West Ranch, the fifth-ranked team in the Southern Section Division 1 poll, plays on the road against Valencia.

Golden Valley is home for its league opener against Saugus.
