Santa Clarita Sports Report: April 15, 2015 – The Valencia boys golf team won the Foothill League match at Valencia Country Club by four strokes over Hart and West Ranch.

It was the third Foothill League match of the season. Valencia shot 408 as a team. Hart and West Ranch each shot 404.

Valencia’s Logan Dykes and Jackson Bright shot the low rounds of the day in the match. Each shot a 4-over 76.

Hart won the first Foothill League match of the season. West Ranch won the second. Both of those rounds were played at the Encino Golf Club.

In high school volleyball, the Valencia boys beat Canyon in four games, in a battle for first place in the Foothill League.

Valencia improved to 4-0 in the Foothill League. Canyon dropped to 3-1.

The West Ranch volleyball team swept Saugus in three games.

Golden Valley beat Hart in five games.

West Ranch and Golden Valley are tied for third place in the Foothill League with 2-2 records.

Hart has yet to win a match this season and is 0-4 in league.

In high school softball, West Ranch beat Valencia, 8-3, in the Foothill League opener for both teams.

Makenna Harper broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run single in the fifth inning for West Ranch.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Phoenix Suns, 112-101, in their regular season finale.

The Clippers clinched the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. They can move up to No. 2 if the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets lose tonight.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Seattle Mariners, 6-5, scoring two runs in the ninth inning to win the game.

Howie Kendrick knocked in both runs with a single in the ninth.

The Dodgers go for the sweep of the Mariners tonight at Dodger Stadium. First pitch is at 7:10.
