College of the Canyons

Baseball: Possibly the biggest series of the regular season begins today for the Cougars, as they face the 13-1 Glendale Vaqueros. COC sits two games behind Glendale with an 11-3 record. A sweep puts them in first place. What’s more, they’ll have two of the three games at home.

First pitch is at 2:30.

Softball: Three more games to complete a perfect WSC – East division record and title.

Today, the Cougars visit Antelope Valley with first pitch coming at 1:30.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The excellent Dodgers starting pitching is finally receiving help from its lineup. After Monday’s 10-3 win over San Diego, they’ve scored 17 runs in their last two games, to climb up to 6-9 on the season.

Yasmani Grandal’s commitment to getting better at the plate this past offseason is paying off in the early going of 2018. Grandal hit a grand slam against the Padres in a 2-for-4 night, and is hitting .372 on the season, good for best on the team.

Hyun-Jin Ryu moved to 2-0 on the season, and has 17 strikeouts in his last two starts.

Alex Wood is on the mound tonight facing Bryan Mitchell for the Padres. Both are trying to break out for the first win of the season, and get their ERA’s under five.

First pitch from Petco Park is at 7:10, and be sure to catch every inning live on your Dodgers station, KHTS FM 98.1.

NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Anaheim Ducks are in an 0-3 hole against the San Jose Sharks after perhaps the most embarrassing loss of the first round so far, an 8-1 slaughter at the SAP Center in San Jose, Monday night.

A 1-1 game after the first period, the Sharks proceeded to score four goals in the second period and added three more for good measure in the third. In seven games this season against San Jose (including regular season), the Ducks have failed to score more than two goals in every one.

Tonight, it’s the Los Angeles Kings’ turn at proving Southern California hockey respectable. They look to avoid being swept by the Las Vegas Golden Knights.

This series has been much closer than the 3-0 lead for the Knights appears. Each game has been decided by one goal.

The puck drops at Staples Center at 7:30.
