Santa Clarita Sports Report: April 20, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: April 20, 2015 – The Hart softball team split a pair of games in the Thousand Oaks Tournament.

Hart lost to Newbury Park, 7-2, in the first game. But the Indians beat Thousand Oaks, 7-2, in the second game.

Abby Sweet had a double and an RBI for Hart in the first game.

Jordan Gasper was 3-for-3 with two doubles and drove in three runs in the second game.

The West Ranch softball team won two games and finished in fifth place in the Santiago Tournament.

West Ranch beat West Covina, 4-2, in the first game.

The Wildcats beat Oak Hills, 7-5, in the fifth-place game.

Jaclyn Napoli was 4-for-5 and drove in four runs in the two games.

Keeley Walsh hit a home run and a double.

In college baseball, the College of the Canyons lost to Bakersfield College, 8-4, in a Western State Conference game. COC has lost four games in a row. The Cougars are 17-16 and 9-9 in conference.

In auto racing, Gabby Chaves, driving for Bryan Herta Autosport, was 16th in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

It was the third top-20 finish in a row for the driver of the team owned by Valencia’s Bryan Herta.

Scott Dixon won the race.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the San Antonio Spurs, 107-92, in Game 1 of their first-round Western Conference playoff series.

Game 2 is at Staples Center on Wednesday.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers shut out the Colorado Rockies, 7-0. The Dodgers swept the Rockies and have won seven games in a row.

They start a series against the Giants on Tuesday.
