Santa Clarita Sports Report: April 24, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: April 24, 2015 – The West Ranch softball team beat Saugus, 9-3, scoring five runs in the fourth inning to take the lead.

Megan Smith capped the inning with a two-run double.

West Ranch is undefeated in the Foothill League at 4-0. Saugus dropped to 1-3.

In high school volleyball, the Canyon boys beat Golden Valley in four games. Jake DeYoung had 14 kills for Canyon.

The Cowboys are in second place in the Foothill League with a 6-1 record. Valencia is in first place at 7-0.

In high school tennis, the Valencia boys beat Golden Valley, 13-5. Valencia is in second place in the Foothill League at 6-2.

The Hart boys beat Saugus, 15-3. The Indians are in third place in league at 5-3.

The West Ranch boys lead the Foothill League standings.

In the NBA, the Clippers are in San Antonio for Game 3 of their first-round Western Conference playoff series tonight.

The series is tied at a game apiece. The Clippers lost Game 2 in overtime on Wednesday night.

In the major leagues, the Dodgers lost to the San Francisco Giants, 3-2 in 10 innings. Alex Guerrero hit a solo home run. It was his fourth of the season. He is hitting .474 in 19 at-bats this season.

The Giants swept the Dodgers in three games.

The Dodgers are off to San Diego to start a weekend series against the Padres tonight.

Zack Greinke starts for the Dodgers against Andrew Cashner for the Padres. First pitch is at 7:10.
