Los Angeles Dodgers

Justin Verlander found his old form Sunday, going eight innings allowing one run to help the Detroit Tigers to a 6-1 win over Los Angeles. The loss ended the Dodgers’ current winning streak at six games. All in all, the Dodgers had a 4-1 week and added a couple more series victories to the season’s résumé, this time against two American League Central opponents.

The Dodgers (87-35) remain on the road for a four-game series in Pittsburgh with the Pirates, starting Monday afternoon. Alex Wood is scheduled to make the start, looking to move to 15-1 on the season. First pitch is at 4:05 PM PST.

ROSTER MOVES: The Dodgers roster tinkering as the postseason draws nearer continued over the weekend with two moves. LA sent the struggling Joc Pederson to Triple-A Oklahoma City and traded for New York Mets’ outfielder Curtis Granderson. Granderson hit homered yesterday in the sixth inning to score the Dodgers’ only run of the game.

KERSHAW UPDATE: The Dodgers’s ace will make a rehab start for Oklahoma City on Saturday, making it at least one more week of no Kershaw on the mound for LA. He pitched a simulated game at Dodger Stadium on Monday.

The TMU men’s soccer team outclassed Northwest (WA) 5-0 at home Saturday. Former Valencia Vikings captain Luis Garcia-Sosa opened the scoring in the 7th minute and added an assist minutes later. Malawi international Benjamin Tembo added a brace for the Mustangs.
