Santa Clarita Sports Report – August 21, 2018

Santa Clarita High School Volleyball

Tuesday’s schedule:

Golden Valley (2-2) vs Eastside

Canyon (2-0) vs Quartz Hill

Louisville vs West Ranch (0-2)

Hart (1-0) vs Stockdale

The Master’s University

Mustangs Women’s Volleyball is off to a 4-0 start after going perfect in the Hope Summer Slam last week.

Today, the Mustangs head to Riverside to take on Antelope Valley (2:00) and St. Katherine (6:00). Tomorrow they’ll play Aquinas College and the hosts, La Sierra University.

Los Angeles Dodgers

Kenley Jansen was activated from the disabled list yesterday. Dave Roberts decided to make use of the All-Star closer immediately, thrusting him into a high-leverage situation in the ninth inning (tied 3-3 with the Cardinals).

Jansen proceeded to give up back-to-back solo homers, and the Dodgers were unable to respond in the bottom of the inning, falling 5-3. “I wasn’t in my comfort zone,” mentioned Jansen to reporters after the game.

The loss drops the Dodgers two games back in the Wild Cad and 2.5 games behind the Diamondbacks in the division. It’s critical that Hyun-Jin Ryu (3-0, 1.77 ERA) throws a dominant performance on the mound tonight to ease the pressure on a lineup that is so close to finding it’s true form after a great weekend in Seattle.

First pitch is at 7:00, don’t miss anything, keep it tuned to KHTS FM 98.1 for the call.
