Santa Clarita Sports Report: August 3, 2015 – Saugus High graduate Abbey Weitzeil was selected as the Cal Hi Sports Female Athlete of the Year.

She broke two national high school records in swimming, in the 50 and 100 meter freestyle. Both records were her own she set as a junior at Saugus High.
Weitzeil is headed to UC Berkeley, but she is taking a year off to train for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
She won a gold medal with Team USA in the 400 meter freestyle relay at the World University Games in Korea last month. She also won a silver medal in the 100 meter freestyle.

In golf, Valencia High graduate Max Homa finished in a tie for 72nd place at the Quicken Loans National at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course in Virginia.
Troy Merritt won the tournament. He was 18-under for the tournament. Homa was 5-over and shot a 6-over 77 in the final round.

Graham Rahal won the race. It was his second win of the season.
In the major leagues, the Dodgers beat the Angels, 5-3 in extra innings, and swept the weekend Freeway Series.
