Santa Clarita Sports Report: December 05, 2014: The Valencia boys soccer team won its season opener, 4-1, over Highland.

Dylan Bielanski scored two goals in his varsity debut.

Luis Garcia Sosa and Alex Trujillo also scored for the Vikings.

The Canyon boys soccer team lost to Quartz Hill, 1-0, in the Cowboys season opener.

In high school basketball, the Valencia girls beat Royal, 73-31, in the opening round of the High-Five Shootout.

Kayla Conrad had 21 points, seven rebounds and six steals for Valencia. Talia Roth posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

The Valencia boys basketball team beat Knight, 75-51, in the Simi Valley Tournament. Dakota Abbott scored 24 points and Malik McCowan had 19 for Valencia.

Valencia takes on Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks today.

The Trinity boys basketball team beat Mary Star of the Sea, 62-49, in the semifinals of the Milken Tournament.

Trinity is 3-0 to start the season.

Los Angeles Kings News

In the NHL, the Kings shut out the Coyotes, 4-0. Martin Jones made 26 saves as the Kings posted their second shutout in a row.

Dustin Brown scored two goals. Jarret Stoll and Alec Martinez also scored for the Kings.

Next up for the Kings are the Flyers on Saturday.
