Los Angeles Lakers
Tonight, the basketball world turns its attention to Staples Center as the Golden State Warriors come to town to face the Lakers. But the actual game may be secondary for fans of the Purple & Gold as the player of a generation ascends to the rafters in immortality.
Kobe Bryant will have his numbers retired tonight, the first player in NBA history to have two numbers retired by one team. No one is more deserving of the feat, winning three championships wearing No. 8 and another two donning No. 24, playing a Hall of Fame caliber career in each chapter.
The jersey retirement will take place at halftime, which should be somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00. Tipoff for the game is at 7:30.
