Santa Clarita Sports Report: December 19, 2014: Santa Clarita Christian’s Kylie Brown was selected the CIF Southern Section Division 5AA player of the year in girls volleyball.

She led the Cardinals to their first CIF Southern Section championship and is the first player from the Santa Clarita Valley to earn CIF player of the year recognition

She had 445 kills and 222 digs for Santa Clarita Christian in 2014.

Darcy Brown, Kylie’s mom, was selected as the Southern Section Division 5AA coach of the year.

She guided the Santa Clarita Christian girls to a 19-8-1 record.

Hart’s Erin Indermill was selected to the All-CIF Southern Section Division 1A team. She set the single season school record in assists with 683.

Abigail Walker and Tiffany Shroyer from Santa Clarita Christian were selected to the Southern Section Division 5AA team.

Brianna Sanford from Albert Einstein Academy earned a spot on the Southern Section Division 5A team.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the Blues, 6-4, erasing a three-goal deficit in the first period.

The Kings scored three goals in the third period to ice the Blues.

Anze Kopitar had a goal and four assists. Marian Gaborik scored two goals and had an assist.

Jake Muzzin broke a 4-4 tie with power-play goal in the third period.

Next up for the Kings are the Coyotes on Saturday night.
