The Mustangs began GSAC play against No. 9 Westmont College Wednesday night, in an offensive ball game that went into double overtime, it was Westmont who got the last laugh.

A decisive 7-0 run late in the second overtime by the Westmont Warriors was the winning push in this one as the Mustangs (7-1) suffered their first lost of the year.

Delewis Johnson had a big game for the Mustangs off the bench. Johnson put up a strong 25 points shooting 10-16 from the field, and Lawrence Russell put up 21 points as well.  The Mustangs were 28-71 (39%), and  7-28 (25%) from behind the arc.

For Masters University Women’s Soccer a big congratulations to Whitney Gomillion, Kinley Kane, and Taylor Rowden. Those three will represent the school as they were selected for the 2016 Women’s Soccer NAIA Scholar-Athlete list.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers are back at home and looking to end a four game slide versus Phoenix.

Both the Lakers and Suns have been struggling as of late lately.

The Lakers were just handed a humiliating 134-95 loss at Houston on Wednesday, the third time they lost by 30 or more points will now be looking to take advantage of a Suns team they’ve already beat.

Last time these two met was back in early November, and the Lakers took advantage of a sloppy Suns team winning 119-108. In that game Nick Young led the way with 22 points, also both Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson put up 18 points.

The Lakers remain without starting point guard D’Angelo Russell (sore left knee), starting shooting guard Nick Young (calf strain, right leg), backup guard Jose Calderon (right hamstring strain) and center/forward Tarik Black (right ankle sprain). None of the four is expected to be available against the Suns.

Tip off from Los Angeles is scheduled for 7:30 p.m (PT)
