Santa Clarita Sports Report: February 04, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: February 04, 2015: The Master’s College baseball team beat Claremont, 10-4, scoring five runs in the fourth inning.

Nick Covello was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs for The Master’s College.

The Mustangs are ranked No. 20 in the NAIA and improved to 6-2.

In college basketball, the College of the Canyons men play Santa Monica City College tonight in a Wester State Conference game.

The COC men are coming off an 87-69 loss to Antelope Valley College on Saturday night. The Cougars have lost two games in a row and have an 11-10 record.

The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team plays Santa Monica City College. The Lady Cougars have lost three games in a row.

They are coming off a 70-49 setback to Antelope Valley College on Saturday.

The COC women are 13-10.

In auto racing, Gabby Chaves will drive for Bryan Herta Autosport in the Verizon IndyCar Series.

Chaves is the 2014 Indy Lights champion. He won four Indy Lights races, including the Freedom 100 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The team is owned by Hart High graduate and Valencia resident Bryan Herta.

In the NHL, the Kings lost to the Washington Capitals, 4-0. The Kings have lost six of their past seven games.

They take on the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
