Santa Clarita Sports Report: February 17, 2015: The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team will play Whitney of Cerritos in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4A playoffs on Wednesday.

The Trinity boys won the Southern Section Division 6 championship last year. They are the No. 4 seed in the playoffs.

Trinity is the Heritage League champion. Whitney is the fourth-place team from the Academy League. The game is at The Master’s College.

In other basketball playoff match-ups, the Valencia boys are the No. 12 seed in the Southern Section Division 1AA bracket and play Quartz Hill in the first round on Friday.

The Hart boys are the No. 7 seed in the Division 2A playoffs and will play Torrance in the first round.

The West Ranch boys are on the road in the first round of the Division 2AA playoffs and play Summit of Fontana.

The Saugus boys earned an at-large berth in the Division 2AA playoffs. They will travel to play Glendora, the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, in the first round.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys play Villanova Prep in the first round of the Division 5A playoffs.

The Albert Einstein Academy boys play Avalon in the first round of the Division 5A playoffs. Einstein is the champion of the Omega League.

On the girls side, five teams from the Foothill League qualified for the CIF playoffs.

Valencia is the No. 4 seed in the Division 1AA playoffs and play Long Beach Jordan in the first round.

The Hart girls are the No. 2 seed in the Division 2A playoffs and take on Coastal Canyon in the first round.

The Canyon girls are on the road in the first round of the Division 2AA playoffs. They play Eastside of Lancaster.

Golden Valley takes on Patriot of Riverside in the first round of the Division 2AA playoffs.

The Saugus girls earned an at-large berth in the Division 2AA playoffs and play Tesoro of Rancho Santa Margarita in the first round.

The Santa Clarita Christian girls play Shandon in the first round of the Division 6 playoffs.

The Albert Einstein Academy girls play St. Joseph of Santa Maria in the first round of the Division 5AA playoffs.

The Trinity girls play Desert Mountain in the first round of the Division 6 playoffs.

In the NHL, the Kings beat the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning, 3-2, and won their fifth game in a row.

The Kings go for six in a row against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday.
