Santa Clarita Sports Report: February 19, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: February 19, 2015: The Trinity Classical Academy boys basketball team started its quest for a second CIF title by knocking off Whitney, 52-38, in the first round of the Southern Section Division 4A playoffs.

Ryan Brooks scored 20 points and Ian Caddow added 16 for Trinity in the game at The Master’s College.

The Santa Clarita Christian boys basketball team beat Villanova Prep, 52-40, in the first round of the Southern Section Division 5A playoffs.

Cameron Lewis scored 20 points and had five steals for Santa Clarita Christian.

In high school soccer, the Santa Clarita Christian girls lost to Katella, 3-2 in overtime, in the wild-card round of the Southern Section Division 6 playoffs.

In college baseball, The Master’s College lost to British Columbia, 3-1, in a match-up of top 25 teams from the NAIA.

The Master’s College is ranked No. 20 and scored its only run in the third inning.

British Columbia, ranked No. 24 in the NAIA, took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and scored two more runs in the eighth inning.

In the NHL, the Los Angeles Kings beat the Colorado Avalanche by a final score of 4-1.

The Kings will play the San Jose Sharks Saturday night in Santa Clara, CA at Levi’s Stadium as part of the NHL’s Stadium Series. Tune in Saturday night for our next Kings away game against the San Jose Sharks.
