Santa Clarita Sports Report: January 02, 2015: The Master’s College women’s basketball team beat Southwestern Christian, 78-64, in the Jersey Mike’s Classic.
Three players from The Master’s College scored in double figures. Nicole Nitake led the way with 25 points and made seven 3-pointers. Bianca Cubello had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Mustangs improved to 10-3.
The Master’s College men’s basketball team lost to the University of Northern British Columbia, 96-91 in overtime, in the Arizona Christian University New Year’s Classic.

The two teams tied, 82-82, in regulation. The Master’s College trailed by nine points, 49-40, at halftime.
Russell Byrd scored 37 points and had nine rebounds for the Mustangs in the loss. He made five 3-pointers.

In college football, the first ever national championship playoff game is set. Oregon will play Ohio State next week in the title game.
Oregon crushed Florida State, 59-20, in the Rose Bowl. Oregon snapped Florida State’s 29-game winning streak.
In the other semifinal game, Ohio State stunned Alabama, 42-35, in the Sugar Bowl. Alabama entered the game as the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
The national championship game between Oregon and Ohio State is in Arlington, Texas, on Jan. 12.
