Santa Clarita Sports Report: January 08, 2015

Santa Clarita Sports Report: January 08, 2015: The Master’s College women’s basketball team beat Bethesda, 83-66. The Lady Mustangs have won six of their past seven games.

Four players from The Master’s College scored in double figures. Bianca Cubello scored 16 points. Whitney Best had 15 points and five assists.

The Lady Mustangs, ranked No. 17 in the NAIA, improved to 11-4.

The Master’s College men beat UC Merced, 109-66. Russell Byrd scored 26 points and made seven 3-pointers.

The College of the Canyons men’s basketball team lost to Antelope Valley College, 83-76, in the Western State Conference opener.

Coley Apsay scored 15 points and had six assists for COC. The Cougars dropped to 8-6.

The College of the Canyons women’s basketball team beat Antelope Valley College, 62-56. Monica Friedl scored 30 points and had 14 rebounds.

The COC women improved to 11-5.

In the NBA, the Clippers beat the Lakers, 114-89. The Clippers have won five games in a row against the Lakers.

The Lakers take on the Orlando Magic on Friday.

Next up for the Clippers are the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.

In the NHL, the Kings play the New York Rangers in a Stanley Cup final rematch tonight at Staples Center.

The Kings are coming off a 7-6 overtime loss to the Nashville Predators on Saturday. The Kings have lost three of their past four games.
